Mission and Service

Les Écluses is a PHC project that provides long-term housing for people living with mental health challenges. Les Écluses also provides community housing support services to tenants throughout the duration of their time living there. This support aims to help the person develop skills required for autonomous and cooperative living. Residents will be invited to participate actively in community life and to initiate or continue steps towards independence.

Description of Les Écluses housing:

  • 16 subsidized housing units for single people (10 - 3 ½ and 6 studios);

  • Les Écluses is a housing project located in the south-west of Montreal (Pointe-Saint-Charles).

 

Main criteria for housing eligibility:

  • Be 18 years of age or older;

  • Living with mental health challenges that outweigh a concurrent disorder;

  • Have a level of autonomy in line with the services offered;

  • Be eligible for the Rent Supplement Program managed by the Montreal Municipal Housing Office for a subsidized housing application;

  • Have a low income;

  • Have Canadian citizenship or Canadian permanent residency;

  • Have the motivation and interest in getting involved in cooperative type living;

  • Engage in community support;

  • Demonstrate an ability to live cooperatively;

  • Not a full-time student.
